I have been diminished
By the country of my birth
The one that has me entrapped
In the land of my birth

Even the little joy found
The precious few pleasures
It devices mean means
To draw out the pains

Nigeria kills dreams
Even as it aborts hope
I am entrapped
In the land of my birth
Where my ibi was buried

With all hope of escape
From this maddening place
Equal only in promises
By its singular blight
