The system has assured, that regardless of which one of the gangs masquerading as political parties captures power at any point in time, nothing of substance would ever change to threaten its own existence, for as long as the people remain oblivious to the truth of their situation.
You can hold on to your tithes and offerings, I am not going to preach. At least not in a church, or at a pulpit. Yet. But I do want to preach this morning, and I shall thereafter be making an altar call. Of some sort.
The Bible verse above would be a lie, if my Muslim brothers and sisters, and believers in our traditional forms of worshiping God, cannot find parallels in their own religions, that largely mirrors the sentiment inherent to the verse.
God is the author of truth, of all truths, and those who embrace the truth, are afforded his protection. But it is the truth that you “know” and embrace in the same manner of intimacy with your partner, that sets you free. Ephemeral acquaintanceship with the truth will not do, you must embrace the truth, to enjoy the liberties that it offers.
Seeing as I have foresworn any Christian evangelical intention, you would be correct to wonder: of what truth does he speak?
The Nigerian state is a criminal enterprise, its princes, and kings are thieves and crooks, and the parties are in truth not unlike mafia families. Governance is not for the greater good, and elections have nothing to do with the expressed will of the hapless victims of the criminal state. Attempting to separate the parties is a waste of time, and time has laid bare the incestuous relationship between the lot of them, however they are named.
The Nigerian state is undergirded and found on a most criminal assumption, the assumption that the constitution is the expressed will of the captured peoples that are trapped within its borders. The system has assured, that regardless of which one of the gangs masquerading as political parties captures power at any point in time, nothing of substance would ever change to threaten its own existence, for as long as the people remain oblivious to the truth of their situation.
It is the truth that you know, that sets you free. Permit me to tell you a few, and please do open your ears, use the brains God has seen fit to stick between your ears, and take off the chains that currently decorates your brains, even as they have fettered your legs and hands.
Buhari is not fighting corruption, if anything, he has done more to promote, protect, and institutionalize corruption than anyone that has occupied the office of the president since 1999. I would insult myself if I had to point out the long list of corrupt criminals under his canopy, or the glaring acts of corruption on his watch. If and when the charge of hate speech or insulting the president comes, I shall open chapters and verses for whoever is idiotic enough to try it.
The PDP and the APC are Siamese twins. One and the same, kith and kin, six and half a dozen. If the ease and speed with which alliances are changed and party lines crossed were not enough to open your delusional eyes, how about you take a look at Buhari’s current cabinet? If that is not enough for you, how about you look again at Kogi, and Bayelsa. Where was Faleke in relation to Yahaya Bello, just a year ago, where was he during the last exercise in electoral capture of the people of Kogi? I have nothing to say for now on the newly minted saints of Otuoke, but the emerging tales of the Bayelsa creeks should open some eyes.
There are no political parties in Nigeria, there are even fewer genuine politicians. The struggle for the liberation of the Nigerian people must begin with the clear recognition of the battlefield. No progressive force will ever take power from the entrenched gangs without the understanding that power belongs to the people, who have ignorantly surrendered it to gangs of crooks, that had staked out territories, whilst the conscious became complacent, slept on duty, and entrusted the house to the vagabonds disguised as watchmen.
If a truly egalitarian Nigeria is to ever be birthed, the patriots of that unborn nation, must start the difficult task of preaching the truth to the victims of the evil system in which we currently exist. You cannot declare a revolution on behalf of the people who are pitifully unaware of their own plight, and who are perennially locked into existential battles for their very survival.
The victims must be convinced of the clear advantages of being citizens instead of serfs, and the army of patriots can only be raised if the truth would be embraced by the ones that willfully deny the clear and glaring evidences of their own eyes. Political education of the people is a prerequisite for the awakening of their social consciousness, and this is the challenge of the Nigerian activist in the age of Buhari, and the weaponization of ignorance and poverty on the Nigerian peoples.
Knowledge is the most effective weapon in the war against tyranny, but it is the truth that you know, that is of use to you.
The altar call? Please, I beg you. Wake up! The ship on which we sail approaches the rocks. How can you find peace in the silence of the graveyard? Please, for the sake of our children, to seek the absolution of history, wake up!!!!
